The Trumpet Voluntary is part of the classic wedding repertoire.  This is one that has proven itself time and time again and is particularly popular for traditional white weddings.  You can use this anywhere during the ceremony but it is great as either an unusual – yet still traditional – arrival tune or a joyful exit.

There are in fact two trumpet tunes that are often mixed up.  Both are used for weddings and there is no reason you couldn’t use both in the same wedding too if you like them.  Both were written in the late 1600s, 0ne was written by Henry Purcell and the other was written by Jeremiah Clarke however who wrote which is often debated.  Both trumpet melodies are available here at Wedding Harp Recordings.  Click HERE to view the other version.

The Trumpet Voluntary has been recorded in three lengths to best suit your ceremony:

  • The shortest version plays for just under two minutes.
  • The mid-length version plays for three and three-quarter minutes.
  • The long version plays for five and a half minutes – ideal for use as exit music.

Note: Original music by Purcell or Clarke and arranged for harp by Aisling Ennis
