At Wedding Harp Recordings we have one simple goal:

To allow you to have beautiful, elegant harp music at your wedding for a fraction of the cost of a live musician.

Wedding Harp Recordings was started by entrepreneur Roisin in conjunction with harpist Aisling and was inspired by Roisin’s experience when planning her own wedding.  This website offers quality harp music specifically recorded for use at weddings as well as tips and advice for planning the music at your own wedding ceremony.

Roisin’s Story:

When I was getting married in 2012 I had my heart set on having beautiful harp music for the ceremony.  There are always going to be some compromises when planning your dream wedding however having harp music during the ceremony was one thing I absolutely refused to compromise on.  This had been part of my dream wedding since I was a little girl!

However, it wasn’t so easy as it might sound.  In a lot of areas there are not so many harpists available and those that are can be very busy and sadly it seemed that there were none available for the day we had set.  So it seemed as though my dream of serenely walking down the aisle to the enchanting melodies of the harp was not to be…

I did eventually find a harpist available for my date however it made me think about all those couples who would be disappointed.  Who were unable to hire a harpist because there wasn’t one in their area, or they were busy, or they were too expensive, or their venue didn’t suit the special requirements of the harp…

At around the same time I remember talking to a friend of mine who was also getting married but on a very tight budget.  She had decided to use recordings but was finding it very difficult to find the right music.  How to choose the right pieces?  Where to get the recordings from?  Which version to use?  Most of the recordings she found were of a group of musicians and she was worried it would sound cheap or obvious that she was using a recording.  She wanted a solo recording.  She told me she would have loved to find something simple so that it would sound like she just had the musician hiding around the corner!

At first I was a little uncertain about using recordings but I talked to my friend after her wedding and she told me she had no regrets.  In fact, there were a lot of things she had preferred about using recordings rather than a live musician.

weddingIn the days leading up to the wedding, my friend was also able to listen to her ceremony music until it was very familiar.  On the day she found that knowing the procession music so well helped her relax as she walked down the aisle and also reassured her that she knew exactly how long she had to reach the end so she was able to time it perfectly.  Afterwards her guests remarked on how beautiful the music was and several of them even asked where she had hidden the harpist!

Afterwards, her cousin put together a DVD recording for the newlyweds and used the very same mp3 recordings that they had used for the ceremony, which made the DVD extra special.  On their first anniversary, my friend and her husband listened to the recordings again and were instantly transported to the day itself, carried along not just by their special memories but by the music.

After talking to her and thinking about my own difficulties finding a harpist, I realised that recordings of harp music specifically would be something special that other couples might appreciate.  Harp music is really magical at weddings and wouldn’t it be lovey to offer a service so that couples who are not able to have a live harpist could have the next best thing in a recording?

So she teamed up with the best wedding harpist she could find (and Aisling is a phenomenally amazing musician) and together they created Wedding Harp Recordings in order to offer other couples the same opportunity to use beautiful harp music when it wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.  Prices are kept deliberately affordable so that even those on extremely tight budgets can experience the magic of walking down the aisle to the enchanting melodies of the harp strings….
